Fleur-de-Lys, Lily Flower (Iris)

Aparagon of honesty, wisdom and loyalty as well as an attribute of the Virgin Mary for its purity, charity and chastity. The origins of Fleur-de-Lys date back to pre Christian times. Its fame undoubtedly came with the ascent of the Merovingian King Clovis (496) and is the best known symbol of the French Monarchy. Its mysticism has fascinated entire genarations - from the ancient Order of the Temple to Freemasons all the way to our modern time and age - in the novels "The Da Vinci Code" or "Angels & Demons" being the most illustrious examples. Fleur-de-Lys remains one of the most used symbols.
