Visconti Pininfarina 1930 Carbongrafite Fountain Pen

Two Italian masters of technology and design Visconti and automotive design house Pininfarina have collaborated to produce the Visconti Pininfarina 1930 Carbongrafite Fountain Pen.

Designed by Pininfarina, using technology developed by Visconti, this fine writing instrument features the latest application of the revolutionary Smartouch tubular nib that debuted on the Opera Typhoon and Opera Crystal pens last year. The major difference this time is the nib along with the rollerball also offered is retractable and fills with converter or cartridge.

The Carbongrafite used the craft this fine pen gets its name from its material a lightweight but immensely strong mixture of carbon fiber and graphite similar to that used in high-performance sports cars. In the Pininfarina, the Carbongrafite was left as is, without paint or further embellishment, except for polishing to a natural sheen. This material is virtually indestructible and does not stain or show signs of wear, even in extensive testing. This is the first time ever that Carbongrafite is being used in a pen.

The pen’s case is also made of carbon graphite, echoing the Pininfarina’s sleek, slim design. It contains a mechanism, activated by the buttons on the side, that lifts the pen up and presents it to the user.

The Pininfarina will be restricted to 930 fountain pens and 930 rollerball pens to commemorate Pininfarina’s founding in 1930.
